Montreal, October 10, 2012 – This past Thanksgiving Weekend, AGBU Montreal held its annual Chahen Chamlian Basketball Tournament, hosting teams from our sister club at AGBU Toronto. Once again the tournament was a big success featuring some exciting competition at all levels of play.

The Annual Sports Dance was held on Saturday evening in the Dervishian Hall of the AGBU Centre. The event was sold out! This year two surprise awards were given: Serge Beudjekian, a Senior Men’s player, who has organized the summer league for several years was awarded the Krikor Keldjian Award, awarded to the athlete who has contributed to AGBU goals. The second award was given to Vivi Armaghanian, for Lifetime Achievement. Vivi, a long time AGBU member and volunteer, received a standing ovation.

Thanks to the Sports Committee which ran a very smooth event – Richard Elliott, Diran Boyadjian, Hovhannes Kanondjian, Garo Karboian, Gary Guiragossian, Hovik Nalbandian, Onno Alixanian, with the assistance of Christine Khatcherian, Alida Chamlian, Nayri Georges, Sarkis Mareshlian, Zaven Kazandjian, Mario and Jackie Borges, Doris Abdulsater, Alex Tchakmakian, Angelica Georges, Alex Sofuyan, Nairi Tokmanciyan, Rami Bou-Mehri, Michael Guiragossian, Danny Goughassian, Roupen Arakelian, and many others.”
